I’m no fashion blogger but I can appreciate some good fall sweaters, flannels, and boots. And with fall fully upon us, I thought I would share some of my fall wardrobe favorites. If you’ve been following me on Instagram than you know while back I went through a closet revamp and really started narrowing down my wardrobe. I feel like I’m in this in between place with all my clothes because I work from home where I either wear my gym clothes all day and put “real clothes” on when I’m going somewhere or live in my favorite sweater and call that good. In an effort to “fall” into some cuter looks that are totally wearable to the pumpkin patch, I put together a couple of my favorite items for fall that I think you just might like too!
Knowing what to wear this October in Chicago has been tricky because we’ve seen all the weather. That’s usually what happens here and a tell tale sign that the weather is taking a turn. It started out hot enough to wear tank tops, flip-flops and shorts and drink an iced cold brew with one pump of pumpkin spice syrup (my personal spin on the drink!), gave us some chillier days that made everyone super excited for fall and ready to make soup, and this week we’ve gotten some of the most unseasonably cold temps that scream sweater season! I took that as an opportunity to refresh some of my fall clothes and bring out the big coats!
Admittedly I have a lot of pieces in my closet that are from my college days or earlier that I still haven’t parted ways with yet, but at the same time I’m at a point where I am willing to spend more money on some statement pieces that reflect my 20 something sophisticated yet laid back style. My sister is a style and sale guru and in an effort to keep up with her, I’ve been online browsing and shopping to spruce up my fall looks. Since I know here in Chicago I will likely be wearing these clothes until next spring, it’s a good investment! What are you go-to cold weather clothes staples that you refresh year after year?
These looks below are ones I’m loving and wearing right now! Spoiler alert that they are affiliate links and it’s my very first time buying Madewell jeans. I can’t believe what I’ve been missing out on all this time! The ones I linked to below are not only so comfortable, but are the perfect length to wear with booties, loafers or boots. I’m probably the only one who didn’t know this too, but be sure to size down in Madewell clothing because it typically runs big!
You won’t see an absence of orange in these fall wardrobe favorites..I think it suits me, don’t you?! p.s. that tan coat below is the same one I have in a light purple color and love it! I also couldn’t resist peppering some pumpkin items for the home, kitchen and your pup!
Which pieces of your wardrobe get you most excited for fall? Are you a jeans and sweaters kinda girl, or do you like to mix it up with plaids and different warm and cozy textures?
